The Bouyei people originated from China and migrated to Vietnam about 150 years ago. The Bouyei people wear short five-panel shirts with removable sleeves and skirts that cover the chest and abdomen. The patterns on the fabric are created by applying beeswax and dyeing them with indigo. The women's hair is tied back on top of their heads and they wear indigo scarves embroidered with colored thread.
