The Bru-Van Kieu are one of the oldest ethnic groups in the Truong Son region. They do not develop handicrafts. Fabrics are mostly purchased from Laos. When there was no fabric, clothes were made from crushed Sui tree bark. Traditionally, men wear loincloths and have long hair or tie it up. Women's clothing is a shirt with a slit in the chest, dyed indigo black, decorated with round silver metal lines on the neckline and on both sides of the shirt. Some groups wear sleeveless pullovers with round or square necklines. Young women tie their hair to the left, while married women tie it on top of their heads.
