The San Chay people adopted the wet rice civilization early, often living around low-lying areas with flat valleys to make terraced fields. San Chay women wear indigo skirts with decorative patterns on the hem and back of the shirt. They usually wear an indigo belt, and on holidays they wear two to three multi-colored belts.
