The San Diu people originated from Guangdong (China) during the Ming Dynasty, they migrated to Vietnam about 300 years ago. The main food crop they grow is corn. The San Diu women's costume includes a headscarf, a knee-length dress, a short shirt worn underneath, a white bib on the chest, a multi-layered skirt that reaches the knee, white leggings wrapped around the calves and a green or red silk belt. The San Diu men's costume is quite simple, a Ba Ba style shirt with large pockets, wide-legged pants and elastic waistband for easy mountain climbing and farming.
