The Ta Oi people have existed in Truong Son for a long time. They live by growing rice in combination with hunting and gathering. Weaving is only available in a few places, and is quite popular with neighboring ethnic groups. Ta Oi women wear short tube skirts with shirts, or long skirts that cover from the chest down. Nowadays, dresses are often woven from brocade thread and beaded. Ta Oi men usually wear loincloths, go shirtless, or wear sleeveless pullovers. On cold days or during festivals, they wrap an X-shaped shawl around their chests.
