The Tay people appeared in Vietnam from about the second half of the first millennium BC. They developed wet rice cultivation, knew how to intensively cultivate and used many irrigation methods. The Tay brocade weaving craft was especially developed, with many beautiful and unique patterns. The Tay traditional costumes were made of indigo-dyed cotton, with almost no embroidery or decoration.
